Focus Groups for Classical KING FM 98.1

KING FM, has been delivering great classical music to the Pacific Northwest since its founding by broadcasting pioneer Dorothy Stimson Bullitt in 1948.

Now reaching 250,000 listeners per week, KING FM has always been at the forefront of technology, programming, and community service in classical music.

In 2010, Alison Peters Consulting (in partnership with Smith & Stark Public Affairs) conducted focus groups with KING FM listeners to determine their reaction to moving to a listener-supported model. With information learned from the focus group, this transition was completed in 2011.

Again in early 2012, Alison was brought back to KING FM by her friends at Smith & Stark and the KING FM family to utilize focus groups once more. Sustaining KING FM's audience is now a growing priority, so focus groups were helpful in gathering reactions to new streaming products, learning more about emerging audiences for classical music and identifying which community partnerships are the most valuable.
